Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I went to middle school about a 45 minute drive from my home. Every day my father would take me and he would prepare a different little talk on history, math, or some science he found interesting to go over in the car ride. Back then these talks were mostly a great way to pass time, but nowadays I look back on them fondly as a great bonding experience with my dad.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I most closely identify with my father. We both tend to be somewhat quiet and contemplative. We both are quick to get work done when we're trying, but we get lazy.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I mostly admire a good work ethic. I respect the people that can find motivation totally from within and work at their own goals without some immediate incentive like a paycheck.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was 16 I accidentally dinged a pole when driving home. My friends eventually found out and then thereafter when we walked around school together and saw a column they would always say, "Watch out for that pole!"
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to different extreme climates to see what life is like there. Antartica, the Afghan mountains, Hawaii, Siberia, it would be cool to live a few months in each, acclimate, and move on.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would pass onto my children the knowledge that their parents love them more than anything else and that their success and happiness is more important than our own. And then they in turn would pass on this love to their own children. I would also try to give them whatever abilities of mine that I can to give them a leg up in life.
