What is your most memorable childhood experience? | Every July 4th the neighbors on my street would put together a block party with BBQ, water balloon fights, and at the end we would eat ice cream and watch the fireworks. That was always a highlight of my summer, and thus the whole year. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I am closest with my mother. I was always closer with her than my father growing up, and today we share similar interests. We talk about medical research, politics, and classical music. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | I most admire commitment and determination in people. I look up to people who have the vision for a dream and then the tenacity to chase that dream. I tend to look up to innovative scientists, entrepreneurs, olympic athletes, and activists. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | In my freshman year of college there was a series of pranks between the students in my dorm. One of my friends swiped my desk chair and hid it in her room in plain sight for two months before I noticed. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | I have always wanted to hike the Camino de Santiago from France to Spain. The countryside would be beautiful in the spring, and I feel that this would be an excellent way to immerse myself in the history and culture of the region. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | When I was a child, my mother read to me nearly every night. She cultivated in me a love of reading and learning, which I have kept to this day. The nightly ritual of reading is something that I would like to pass on to my children. |
