Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?Until I was about age 11, we would visit my grandma every summer. Flying on a plane as a child is a wonderous adventure in and of itself, but the highlight had to be the weather. Flying out of a very hot and humid city and arriving to a cool and dry climate with no mosquitoes or fire ants was truly memorable.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I closely identify with my father. He has an infectious smile and always lights up the room when he walks in. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone is happy. He will approach a stranger, no matter the situation, and strike up a conversation. I strive to always create new human connections.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire the ability to maintain hope and always find the good even in the most dire of times. As a parent, I find that trait to be absolutely necessary. Patience is also a very admirable and necessary trait.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?At the time it wasn't funny but looking back I find it quite humorous. I have a memory of going to pre-k school, and one day I peed my pants. The funny part is my commitment to refusing to admit that I did it. I told everyone that during recess, I had slid in wet grass, hence my blue jeans being soaked. No one believed me but I wouldn't budge. Wet grass I tell you! My mom came to pick me up early that day.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel all over the world! But if I have to pick just one, I think I would head to Japan. The juxtaposition of the serene countryside and the high-tech urban sprawl of Tokyo is fascinating. I would also rank Japanese food as one of my top 3 favorite foods.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?As far as tangible assets, I would love to leave a plot of land and/or house. I love the idea of having a place that my family and friends can meet up and celebrate life together. In addition to that, I'd like to pass on some wisdom: have fun and help others.
