Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I spent the first years of my life in Nigeria, and then moved to the United States. It was a drastic and challenging change, but together with my close siblings, going through the transition from life in equatorial Africa to busy urban downtown winters made for endless memories, and wonderful moments of discovery. We'd always laugh and joke about all the tiny and big differences between our home country and our new home.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My younger sister first comes to mind. We're both avid readers. Growing up the two of us had an immense shared love of books which continues to this day. In terms of our personalities, we are both close listeners, enthusiastic, positive, and forthright individuals who always seek to be kind to others while striving for our goals. We both played the trombone in school, and both studied Chinese language. We simply have many interests in common including personality traits so it's very easy for me to identify with her!
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I like a straight shooter, a forthright, kind, caring and generous, knowledgeable and compassionate individual.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? This is very difficult. I tend to laugh hard at least once most every day, so choosing and remembering one funniest thing is a tremendous task. That said, I do keep a list for rare things that I thought were worth writing down.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?First, I'd visit family back home in Nigeria, because I’ve never been back! I'd visit extended family in the United Arab Emirates for the first time, and re-visit others in England, Spain, as well as New Mexico, Florida, Texas, Georgia, California. I'd visit natural wonders of the ancient and modern world such as the Suez Canal, Victoria Falls, the Pyramids of Giza, the Amazon rain forest, and many more. I believe that travel is one of the great joys of life.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I'd like to pass on my sturdy physical health, my exceedingly positive outlook on life, its possibilities and its events. I hope they share my curiosity to keep learning and trying new things.
