Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? When I was about 7 years old my family took a road trip to the Arctic Circle. We went camping all along the way and I vividly remember setting up camp in Banff National Park. I remember the cool air and the ice-cold gurgling stream in the middle of July. I remember my father starting a fire and my brother playing with the plastic army men we had been collecting every pit-stop we'd taken. I remember waking up, coming out of the tent and seeing two deer standing motionless a few feet from my face.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with my mother. She is a hardworking woman who will do whatever it takes to make her family thrive. She loves art and literature and has a deep appreciation of beauty.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire tenacity, compassion, appreciation of beauty, and perhaps most of all, an adventurous spirit.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? There is no such thing as coincidence. I was on top of Machu Pichu, Peru, with my family, when I saw and reconnected with one of my childhood best friends and his family after not being in touch for several years. All this was completely unplanned, and it felt very magical.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel all around the world and not stop until I found somewhere that really felt like I belonged. I believe there is so much to see in the world, and I want to see as much as I can. I would start with Thailand, Indonesia, or Vietnam.
