What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experience was catching crayfish with my cousins in high summer. We saw them just a few times a year, and when we did it was always special. We would spend all day playing and having fun. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I closely identify with my brother. We are close in age and have always shared similar interests. He knows me better than anyone. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | People are so complex, fascinating, and can have so many admirable qualities. I really admire authenticity, and the bravery it takes to live authentically. I have a friend who lives so true to herself that I sometimes stand in awe and have to compliment her for making decisions which may not benefit her but are in alignment with her true self. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | One of the funniest things to ever happen to me was during my first ski trip after a ten-year hiatus. I had brought two silly shark hats which, when worn, make it look like a shark is munching on your noggin. Me and my good friend both donned them once we reached the ski hill. We were separated at one point, and I found myself alone and I was really struggling to ski as it was icy, and I hadn't done it in so long. Unfortunately, I lost control right under a ski lift packed with people. As a group of people passed over my crash site they asked if I was ok. I said I was and asked if they had seen a guy in a shark hat. They were almost out of earshot, but I heard an emphatic "Dude, YOU'RE wearing the shark hat" as they faded into the white above. It may work better told rather than written. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | If time and money were not an issue I would travel to Ecuador. I have several friends from there and have heard many stories of Ecuador and I would really love to see it firsthand. I also love birds and drawing, and I have a sense the varied terrains and wildlife of Ecuador would be amazing to record in drawing and painting. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | I would like to pass on to my children an appreciation for the natural world. There is a humility that the natural world and the cosmos have historically given our species and it seems a lot of the western world is quickly forgetting that gift. I would also like to pass onto them virtues like authenticity, compassion, confidence, and gratitude. |
