Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My dad helped me make a catapult for a neighborhood water balloon fight when I was very young. The thing was awful and was no better than just throwing the balloons, but it was super fun to make and use.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify most with my father. We have a lot in common and enjoy a lot of the same activities. On top of this he’s one of the most honest people I know so I can always rely on him.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty. It doesn’t matter how good someone is at something, if you can’t trust them then they’re worthless to you.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was in high school, I would perform an armed tandem drill exhibition with a friend. We did a lot of crazy and dangerous moves during our competitions. Funniest moment was during a performance when my partner barley managed to catch a rifle, and had massive panic in his eyes, but neither of us could show any emotion during the performance, so I just had to stand there straight faced while he did a bunch of random moves to make a poor catch look good.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I want to travel to Japan. I’ve loved Japanese culture for a long time. I would love to go experience Tokyo, the countryside, and the food.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on a good sense of skepticism, as well as a worker’s mentality. You should always question what you hear to truly believe it. You must also be willing to work.
