What is your most memorable childhood experience?I’ll always remember the first time I saw the beach when I was on vacation. I was 4 years old, and it made me feel like I was in a children’s paradise. It was a beautiful sunny day.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I was lucky to have a great mother who was very smart woman. She not only taught me but cultivated my natural intelligence. As a child I struggled with multiplication tables because I received a poor education in school. In one day, she made me understand and love mathematics. Since then, I developed a passion for it to the point that I was always the best math student in class until finally I graduated with a math major, but decided medicine had a better heart.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Honesty is probably the most valuable trait a human being can have. It is a quality that would make you a trustworthy and a very successful person no matter if you are rich or poor.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?Laughing with my daughter on her first laugh was a special moment. It was a pure moment, hard to find these days. It was funny because I was not making great efforts to make her laugh, but she did it with pure joy.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Egypt's pyramids have invaluable human power since they transcend time. My admiration toward the pyramids is not linked to Egypt's culture or food, just the admiration of what humans can do. They are monuments that have seen multiple generations come and go.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?Education is the only thing you can take with you if life throws a curve ball at you. It is something that no one or nothing can take away from you. But, more importantly, I would say I would give my children good values and a desire to pursue knowledge, because once they have those, they can follow their own paths and desires.
