Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable experience, and my best memory overall, was when we went white water rafting when I was about 6 years old. We actually made a whole weekend of it, with my parents and my dad’s side of the family and all the cousins, and we would raft during the day, have lunch on the beach, and camp at night. I remember how much fun it was having a big family and having everyone around.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I closely identify with my mom. Some would say I’ve always been a momma’s boy, and I wouldn’t really argue with that. We are both very similar in personality and the way our minds work.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty, compassion, empathy, and open-mindedness. I admire someone being open to admitting they were wrong and attempting to right that wrong.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I really can’t think of anything for this. I can think of an embarrassing moment though and it’s funny looking back on it. In 7th grade I somehow got roped into playing the Grinch in a school Christmas play. It was more like a performance of different Christmas songs than a play I guess, and they had me run out and act all Grinchy with a couple other student actors during the Grinch song. I didn’t think much of it or really try to prepare, and so I winged it and made a fool of myself. They put me in a Santa Claus costume and painted my face green, the whole thing was so embarrassing at the time, I thought I was going to die. It’s funny how small it seems looking back.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Italy. I’ve always been very interested in Roman and Greek history, and if I was better at math, I probably would’ve pursued a career in architecture.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I hope to pass on my work ethic. My father made sure to pass that on to me and had me working with him at 11 years old, and I think I have that to thank for much of what I’ve accomplished in my life.
