Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I moved to a new state when I was in middle school. It changed me as a person, and I was able to start doing things I loved. I found a lot of new hobbies and friends. Where I previously lived, I was not as open-minded about doing new things and meeting new people. Once I arrived at my new home, I had no choice but to adapt to my surroundings. I picked up new hobbies and arts, such as basketball and music. I started writing music in middle school and started playing basketball right around the same time.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I am close to my little sister. We used to be together all the time and we are both the youngest boy and girl. Although we live in different states, we still are very close. All my siblings on my mom’s side have different dads, yet we are the closest siblings out of each of my parents’ sides. I think part of the reason is because we both grew up with my mom and stayed with her the longest up until she moved in with her dad in another state.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire loyalty, respect and honesty. I feel like all three of those are great traits to have. I feel when people are honest with me, It makes me feel more comfortable to open up to that person and can let my guard down a bit. I’m really big on respect as well. I reciprocate respect, if I feel I am being disrespected, I will show that same feeling back. I also admire people that love themselves, it’s a nice trait to have when the world can be so negative, these types of people are able to find the light in the darkest moments.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was younger, I accidentally took too much NyQuil. We were over my auntie’s house visiting from out of town, and I was feeling sick so I took some NyQuil. I assume I took too much because I woke up in the middle of the night a while later, with the room spinning and words kind of slurring. I was able to walk down the stairs and when I saw my mom I asked “Mom, where are my glasses?” squinting at her and feeling confused. My mom looked at me, chuckled at herself and said “Boy, ya glasses are on ya face!”
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Iceland and site see all the scenic areas. I love nature so this would be perfect. I would also love to visit space, to be surrounded by nothing yet able to see everything. I would love to visit Africa, find out what my DNA is made up of and visit the country that my ancestors are from.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on my knowledge and passion for music. I want to leave a legacy and I feel like I can do that through music, so I feel like if my son/daughter ends up wanting to pursue a music career or just wants to make music, I would love to be able to show them the ins and outs of the music business. I would also love to pass on to them my love to help others. I get joy in helping others and there’s not too many who still feel that way.
