Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience?I enjoyed visiting members of my family that lived in a different part of the country. It was always fun to see the relatives that I would only get to see once every couple of years or so and get some of my favorite foods that weren't available back home. Plus, they have snow and hills, so we got to go sledding, which is something most kids back home didn't really get to experience often.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify most with my brother. We have similar views and philosophies as well as interests. It's always nice to sit down with a glass of bourbon and have a good conversation at family get-togethers.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty and a sense of humor. Honesty is important to feel like you can trust someone, and trust is the foundation of any meaningful relationship. Humor is important because laughter is the best way to connect with others, and a good sense of humor means you don't have to take everything too seriously.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?In my early college days, a friend and I were wandering around campus with fairly decent cameras around our necks getting some pictures. At one point we wound up near the hotel and must have been mistaken for professional photographers because we were invited inside to a wedding reception. We spent the night taking pics of the bridal party, eating cake, and dancing throughout the night despite not knowing a single person there. I still feel a little bit bad that we didn't know how to get any of the pictures we took back to the newly wedded couple, however.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue, then it would probably be easier to list where I wouldn't travel. But if it had to be just one and money truly wasn't a limitation, then I would acquire a luxury yacht and travel through some tropical islands. With both time and money to spare, why not spend some of it in a literal paradise?
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?If I did have children, I would like to pass on a good work ethic, positive mind set, and financial responsibility. Life is really what you make of it. We can't really choose the hand we're dealt, but we all get to choose how we respond to it. A positive attitude and a good work ethic can overcome quite a lot of bad hands, and financial responsibility is key to a comfortable life, yet unfortunately lost on so many.
