Give the Gift of Family

It was 4:45 PM on a Friday, and I was working in the lab to complete my tasks before the end of the week. Suddenly, I heard the bell ringing at the front desk, which was unusual for so late in the day. When I approached the window to help the client, I meet with a woman in her late-thirties with her son. She was focused on one of our promotional items which was posted in the window. After we exchanged a greeting, she started talking about what she read on the poster, which was about “Giving the Gift of Life”.
“Yes, it is a real Gift of Family” she said. I was interested in hearing more about Giving the Gift of Family from her and I asked her to tell me more about it. Then, she started explaining to me about her journey to have a family.
Mary is 39, single and has a 9 month old baby boy. She’s been working towards a creating family for almost ten years. “I always wanted to be a mom,” said Mary. For a long time, Mary planned that having a baby would be part of her life, until she got a physical disability and health problems. After she had the physical disability, it was hard to find a man who would be the father of her children.
She has discussed this issue with her close friend very often. Finally, her friend recommended that Mary consult with a fertility physician, and that she choose a sperm donor through the Fairfax Cryobank.
After time, Mary decided to accept her friend’s advice. She evaluated donors based on their ethnicity, education, health, genetics, eye color, and even their baby pictures. Mary chose an educated German man who shared a lot of her family’s background and physical characteristics.
Mary got pregnant the first time she was inseminated by her chosen donor sperm, and she gave birth to a healthy son. Now Mary has a family, and she is blissfully happy with her handsome and happy little boy.
At the end of our conversation, Mary added how much she appreciated Fairfax Cryobank’s efforts to have different types of donors, and helping many people to create a family. As well it is my pleasure working for Fairfax Cryobank and helping people to achieve their goal of creating a family.
